| After determining the Navigation Structure for your site, you will have identified the main pages of your web, which should number between 5-7. Including links to each of these pages throughout your site with a navigation bar will help your user to become acquainted with your site structure, as well as to move quickly between portions of your site. Secondary navigation allows users to navigate within a specific area of the site. These should be located consistently on another region of the page so as to distinguish it from the primary navigation. For example, the primary navigation feature of this site is a set of vertical links on the left side of each page, known as a navigation bar, which lead to the home page, the three main topics in this site, and additional resources. The secondary navigation element is located on the right side of each page, consisting of a shaded box with a set of links to pages within the same topic. |
