Principles of Universal Design
This is the Center for Universal Design at North Carolina State University. The authors, a working group of architects, product designers, engineers and environmental design researchers, collaborated to establish the following Principles of Universal Design to guide a wide range of design disciplines including environments, products, and communications.This page gives an overview and explanation of the seven principles of universal design.

This site includes five examples of the 38 projects selected as winners of the first Search for Excellence in Universal Design contest supported by the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Building Museum. These examples show how the seven principles of universal design can be applied to many disciplines, from architecture to industrial design to interior design.
